Who is The Chiz?

Some say he was born of two Sega Master System consoles during a freak electrical storm. Others claim that he always has been, and will forever continue to be.

This much is known: The Chiz is a game development student at Algonquin College, in Ottawa. He has been keenly interested in games and all things electronic for as long as he can remember, and as of the end of this sentence he will stop writing in third person.

My earliest memory of electronic gaming was when I started to explore the old Amiga system that my parents had in their bedroom. With a game library featuring such classics as Espionage and Leisure Suit Larry, my mind began to wrap itself around electronic system constructs and graphically-represented worlds.

I suppose I went about e-games backwards. I didn’t play my first text-based game until a couple of years later when my family got a Compaq Presario big-brick monitor+computer combination (later upgraded to hold a whopping 1gb hard drive.) This computer was the vessel through which our first internet service was fed to me. Using a company called CompuServe for dial-up access, I was able to find what was essentially a MUD. This kept me involved for hours, though I rarely made it past my starting town.

Since then, my interest in gaming has only grown. In this blog I will write about both old and new games. I will discuss gamers, habits, and trends. I will cover both blockbuster titles and indie developments as I find them, and as they interest me.

Enjoy.
